i will use this intrument in distillating the leaves of ';sweet basil'; ocimum basilicum.How the distillation instrument of the essential oil work?
It is not easy! Basically you boil your leaves the oil and steam rises then moves through a condenser. The water and oil condensers and the oil and water separate! Oil forming on top! Its a long process! My father and I did it a few years ago with our own home made distilling machine! It was hard work but great fun! I'm not sure where you would get the equipment from but good luck!How the distillation instrument of the essential oil work?
I have worked with essential oils in the laboratory and it is hard to consider doing it at home. Many of the chemicals, and the essential oils themselves, are flammable. You also need a fume hood. Not cheap.


The essential oils are delicate and a few degrees too hot and they are destroyed, and to distill them at lower temps takes a very expensive vacuum distillation device.
